About the Rankings
This site tracks community competitive performance for Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO. The rankings shown here are not the in-game ladder and are not retroactive. They are built from verified matches logged on this site.
Our goal is consistency, transparency, and improvement over time, not claiming absolute authority.
What These Rankings Are (and Aren’t)
They are:
- Based on verified singles / DP sets
- Updated using a standard Elo rating system
- Designed to reflect current competitive strength
They are not:
- A replacement for the in-game ranked ladder
- A reconstruction of old match history
- A claim of perfect or final ordering
Rating System (Elo)
We use a standard Elo model, similar to chess and many competitive games.
How it works
- Every rated match adjusts both players’ ratings
- Beating a higher-rated player gives a larger increase
- Losing to a lower-rated player results in a larger decrease
K-Factor
To balance volatility and stability:
- Provisional players (fewer than X rated sets): higher K-factor
- Established players: lower K-factor
This allows new players to settle quickly without causing large swings for established competitors.
Initial Seeding
Because older matches cannot be fully verified, ratings do not start from historical results.
At rating launch: players were seeded into broad tiers based on community-recognized competitive standing. These tiers differ by small margins (±50 Elo) only. Seeding happens once and is never adjusted afterward. All future movement is driven purely by match results.
Ties and Ranking Display
If two or more players have the same rating, they share the same rank.
#1 Player A — 2520
#1 Player B — 2520
#3 Player C — 2475
Rank numbers reflect rating equality, not row order.
Match Logging and Verification
Only verified matches affect ratings. A match may be verified by a linked VOD or community confirmation through the submission process. Matches logged before ratings went live remain visible as historical context, but do not affect Elo.
Transparency and Corrections
Every rating change is tied to a logged match. Errors can be reported and reviewed. Methodology changes will be documented publicly. The system is designed to be auditable, not opaque.
Final Note
These rankings are a living system. They will improve as more verified matches are logged.
If you want the rankings to be accurate: play, submit matches, let the numbers move naturally, that’s how competitive ladders earn trust.
